Taking it in Stages...

I was third for the weekend at Brighton. All things considered I don't have a lot to complain about except....

Stage One: Torn Shirt TT, Fourth Place. I crashed three times and put a bump in my rear wheel. It rubbed on the chain stays most of the race, plus I had to run up all the hills. I don't know why this is. Hills I can make on my single speed during a normal training ride I can't muscle up during a race. I find this very frustrating. It is obviously where I lose time. Niel said I have to practice getting off the bike and running. If I wanted to run I would be wearing Asics Gels not Sidis for crying out loud. I think I just need to learn how to will my legs to not turn to Jello when I approach a hill in a race.

Stage Two: Short Track, Second Place- The most fun I had all weekend! I had never raced short track before and I absolutely loved it, plus the second place made me feel like I was back in the game.

Stage Three: XC Murray Lake, Fifth Place- This is my favorite kind of race. It was long and hard. I rode pretty clean and made all the hills, but they seemed big after the second lap. For a moment while I was out there I had the thought that I would be 700% faster if I had gears, but later on the podium I came to my senses. Seriously. I was took third for the entire weekend riding against some really fast women. They have gears. I don't. Sometimes it has to be about doing the best you can with what you've got.
